10 Reasons to Love Summer in Dubai

It's steamingly hot here in Dubai.  The temperature is continuously rising since the month of June kicked in, now its ranging from 40-45 degrees Celsius. For me who spent the first 28 years of my life in the Philippines, this is such a "major major" adjustment. Well, the list of things i dont like in the summer here could be endless but i always want to see the glass half full so let me start the list of things to be thankful for:

1. Dubai Summer Surprises - its a month and a half long of celebrations with Mallwide sales and promotions and as well as planned activities for kids and the whole family. It has just recently concluded last July 31 and this gave me a reason to go shopping and grab some good deals. Malling is a bit of fun this time of the year. Visit this site to know more bout this event http://www.dubaievents.ae/en/event/events/dubai-summer-surprises-2011.html

2. Sauna experience - forget about hitting the gym, just by walking a few minutes gets you enough sweat like visiting a sauna- the equivalent of an hour of treadmill or even more. Losing some pounds wouldn't require you some gym visits.

3. Early morning swim at the pool - Ram and Johann love to go to the swimming pool at 7am in the morning. The sun is already up by that time, making the water even more tempting. Have a look at one of their bonding time at the pool:

4.  Time to use those light and floral tops again - I have an excuse to forget about my blazers and wear something light and floral. More comfy, light and feminine. Just love them, well Forever 21 store has loads of this kind of clothes.

5. More reason to love your skin - Sun's rays are a big no no, this is the time of the year that i am reminded to take care of my skin more - drink loads of water, juices and not forgetting to lather some sunblock just come naturally.

6. Early morning alarm clock - there is no reason to be late to work, the sun is up as early as 6am.

7. Ice cream, shakes, and  of course Chowking Halohalo - you have all the reason to splurge on these as these are all just perfect for the summer. Anyways you can burn all the calories later- see reason no. 2.

8. Show off those shades - who doesn't have one when you're living in this part of the world. A must have all the time :)

9. Hotel promotions - during summer there is a lot of hotel promotions that you will surely love, pay for 2 nights and get the third night free, kids eat and enjoy the amenities for free - in short there is whole lot of fun spending weekends to cool down and stay away from the sun without hurting your pockets.

10. Beach and waterparks - there is a lot of choices out here: Jumeira Beach Park, Al Mamzar Park to name a few famous beach parks and Wild Wadi, Dreamland Aqua Park and Iceland Aqua Park, three of the most famous waterparks. Visit one of these and you'll sure have one of the most unforgettable summer ever.

Why Pinay Mom in Dubai?

Dubai is our second home. No doubt about it. I wouldn't forget the first time I set foot to this place tagging Ram with me who was only then 1 1/2 years old. As of today, we are almost in our 5th year and we continue to enjoy the perks and challenges of living in this amazing desert.

The reason of moving here was not something unusual and it wasn't easy as well. Paolo (my hubby) got an offer from one of the companies here as referred by a collegemate and friend. He went through the usual hiring process and fortunately got the job. Saying yes to the offer was not that easy, we weighed every thing, prayed really hard and finally decided that he will try it out here. Paolo had his first international flight on March 25, 2006, just weeks before Ram's first birthday.

Just exactly after 6 months, we have decided that Ram and I will join him for a vacation and get the feel of the country. At the back of our heads, if something works right for me, might as well stay.

The first two months was all fun, we visited a lot of "to go to" places here in Dubai and let me share with you our first beach escapade:

After two months of fun - having family time, attending job interviews and phone calls, a surprising news came and i felt the world shook for a second, I was pregnant. It was something we did not dreamt about - not in our wildest imagination. But then again, after a moment of whys and hows, we believed that God's wisdom and plans are far beyond our brains to understand and decipher. We know for sure then that He has better plans and so we lifted it up to Him.

Being diverted from being a working mom to a stay at home mom was a bit of an adjustment, i know i needed help. Also being new to the city i did not know then how to move around where to go and get value for our money, given then that resources were limited. That was when i started looking on the net "Pinay moms in Dubai" and too bad nobody at that time had the space to post the same sentiments as mine.

I created this blog to share a bit of my life, my family and every thing in between.

Hope you had fun reading my first blog.
